Building Wraps Case Study - Liverpool 2008 - Capital of Culture
When Liverpool’s municipal administrators required a huge-format building wrap for the centre-piece of their 2008 celebrations they came to Macro Art. The brief was a technical challenge: the building is over 40m tall, and all sides required a continuous wrap with printed images. The installation itself required meticulous planning and technical expertise to cope with gale force winds on this site next to the River Mersey. The print itself covered 3,300 sq.m. weighed over 1,250kg.
The installation was complete and ready by 6pm Friday 11 January, when Ringo Starr performed in front of the building wrap to a live audience of 100,000 people and a television audience of 300 million.
Macro Art delivered this huge-format building wrap within five weeks over the busy Christmas and New Year holiday period and along-side 465 existing jobs.
